Forensic Science Regulator honoured with CBE

Forensic Science Regulator Dr Gillian Tully has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours

List.

Dr Tully has worked in forensic science for over 30 years, specialising in DNA, innovation, validation

and enhancement of quality standards. Her work has included provision of expert evidence to courts

in the UK and overseas, and extensive collaborative working with forensic practitioners around the

world.

Since taking up the appointment of Forensic Science Regulator in November 2014, she has

campaigned for improvements in the quality and reliability of forensic science and statutory powers

to enable the office to uphold standards.

Dr Tully, said: “I am delighted to receive this honour and truly grateful to have the opportunity to

influence forensic science, which is so vital to the effective delivery of justice.

“I would like to thank the team at the Home Office’s Forensic Science Regulation Unit for their tireless

work in the background to support the Regulator, and all of the forensic scientists on the frontline delivering services to our criminal justice system.”

Dr Jeff Adams, Head of Science at the Forensic Science Regulation Unit, has been honoured with an OBE for services to forensic science and forensic pathology quality.
