THREAT MONITOR SERIES: Understanding far right/white supremacist groups with former combat 18 leader Nigel Bromage CPD workshop 13 October 2022

  • The first in our new Threat Monitor series in which we bring you latest trends and contemporary issues that will inform your investigations

  • Former leader of far-right group combat 18, an openly neo-Nazi organisation that preaches a virulent, violent message of white supremacy, Nigel Bromage will provide the ‘inside story’ on how far right groups recruit, operate and communicate.

  • Nigel was at the heart of one of the UKs most prominent far right groups for more than 20 years, but he has now turned his back on the movement and is now a trainer/speaker who provides educational workshops and seminars to inform law enforcement and other public services about the far-right threat.

  • Recent high-profile shootings in the US and UK as well as the murder of MP Jo Cox, that have been reportedly carried out by far-right sympathisers highlights the growing threat these extremist groups can pose.

  • This workshop will be specifically tailored to investigators and provide the latest threat picture about the members of far-right groups and the activities they engage in

  • After the session all delegates have free access to the Small Steps Support Hub where they can find further material (such as videos, articles and podcasts) to keep their knowledge updated.

  • Held online via Teams.

Don’t miss on this workshop that has been exclusively tailored for the Investigator by former far right head Nigel Bromage. He now runs his own organisation called Small Steps that provides training to counter the far right threat.

The workshop will cover the following areas:

  • An introduction to Nigel Bromage and his role as leader of Far-Right group Combat 18

  • The history of far-right extremists. An insight into the membership and their motivations for joining

  • An assessment of the current nature of the threat and the activities of far-right groups in the UK

  • Understanding behaviours and unique characteristics of far-right groups and members. How do they recruit; spotting far-right codes
