UNDERSTANDING AND MINIMISING RISKS in Cell Site Analysis CPD Workshop, 22 November 2022
The Investigator is hosting a one-day workshop that looks at issues around understanding and minimising risks in cell site analysis.
It is aimed at those who undertake Radio Frequency Propagation Surveys, Call Data Analysis and Cell Site Analysis.
t would also be of value to investigators wishing to understand how to minimise risks in using Cell Site Analysis in cases.
Areas to be covered include:
Analysis will help
Technical risks: where validation fits
Interpretation risks and how to avoid them
Expressing the outcomes: risks and good practice
Risks around admissibility and weight of evidence: what the courts have said
Attendees will learn how to minimise the risks and ensure any resulting evidence is robust.
The workshop will be led by Professor Gill Tully, who from November 2014 to February 2021 was the Forensic Science Regulator for England and Wales.
As an independent Ministerial Appointee, she was responsible for setting quality standards for forensic science in the Criminal Justice System and for advising and challenging Government. Gill has given evidence to multiple Parliamentary Committees as well as providing expert evidence in courts in this jurisdiction and overseas.
With several granted patents, numerous peer reviewed publications and experience of taking research ideas from inception to court, Gill has a record of effective innovation. She has advised the Government and multi-national companies on bringing research to market and has collaborated actively internationally.
Her current research interests include improving the quality and effectiveness of forensic science and improving the interface between science and the law.
In 2020, Gill was awarded a CBE for services to forensic science.
