Investigating Missing Person’s Conference 14 October 2024 – online event
Sponsored by Black Rainbow
-
An online conference that examines contemporary best practice and challenges around the investigation of missing persons, particularly in relation to risk management and decision making.
-
A must attend event for investigators and analysts of all ranks and roles who want to develop and enhance their understanding of missing person investigations.
-
Our event will reflect that fact that contemporary missing person investigations can be challenging and complex; the more serious cases can rapidly progress into a murder investigation that is often conducted in the media spotlight and can be subject to internal and external scrutiny.
-
Provides operational best practice and contemporary advice that will support investigators in their decision making.
-
One of the main challenges that we will examine is in relation to identifying and managing the level of risk in each case. This in itself is fraught with challenges, as there can be inconsistencies in the way that risk is identified and graded which can have an adverse effect on the impending investigation.
-
We will consider the levels of risk and provide key operational advice around establishing the level of risk that will inform the direction of the investigation.
-
We’ll also look at the factors that might adversely effect decision making and provide guidance around how to identify and mitigate these factors.
-
Digital opportunities – we will also provide guidance around the digital opportunities that can be obtained during the Golden Hour of a missing person’s investigation
-
Held online via Team. Certificates of CPD available
The Investigator is hosting a conference around the Investigation of Missing Persons to reflect the fact that this is becoming an increasingly challenging and complex area.
As a result, investigators need to be provided with all the latest best practice and advice that can inform their thinking on the frontline and provide support and confidence.
The majority of the 300,000 people who were reported missing last year were children and were assessed as medium risk.
A total of 40,000 of these cases were assessed as high risk and there were more than a thousand fatal outcomes.
Operational experts and leading researchers and academics will lead the debate and share their experience which aims to develop and enhance the understanding of these challenges investigations and provide delegates with the knowledge and expertise needed conduct robust investigations.
